Parking Procedures Runnemede Schools
Chief Paul Dailey
In the upcoming school year 2017-2018 the Runnemede Police Department has made changes in the parking regulations at all three schools. These recommendations were formed after the Borough’s Insurance Company evaluated the parking conditions at all three schools. All three schools were deficient in dropping off and picking up of students. The following was created after long consideration for safety, traffic congestion and consideration of all involved.
Mary Volz School- Parents / Guardians are directed on the four hundred block and 500 block of Hirsch Ave or on Williams Ave. No parents are allowed to park in any yellow zone in the school and fire zone areas. Parents may drop their child off on W. Third Ave in front of the school, but are forbidden to park or be stopped for over ten (10) seconds. Violation of this policy will result in motor vehicle summonses being issued.
Downing School- Parents / Guardians are directed to park on E. Second Ave, which they can enter onto the one way from E. Clements Bridge Rd and in front of the Runnemede Fire House. There is plenty of parking on E.2nd Ave. Parents can park in the yellow zone on E.2nd Ave using this area as a drop off zone. Parents are allowed to drop off and pick up on E.3rd Ave and Central Ave, but are forbidden to be stopped for over ten (10) seconds. Violation of this policy will result in motor vehicle summonses being issued.
Bingham School- Parents/ Guardians are encouraged to park on W.1st Ave or the unit block of Orchard Ave and walk their child to the school. No parents are allowed to park in any yellow zone in the school and fire zones. Drop off and pick up in front of the school is allowed, but no one can be stopped no longer then ten (10) seconds. Violation of this policy will result in of motor vehicle summonses being issued.
In closing, the Runnemede Police Department is committed to the highest safety standards for your children. Officers that are assigned in the school zones will be issuing summonses without warnings, because this is your warning. Furthermore, parents/guardian are forbidden to park directly up to the corner of the intersection, especially where the crossing guards are. Cones will be deployed as an indicator. If anyone has a problem with these instructions, I encourage to visit me at the Runnemede Police Department between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday – Friday.
