“Please Note:  Once a complaint is filed, an inspection is performed, with a notice to abate the code violation(s) as applicable.  Reinspection must be performed, and a second notice to the property owner if the violation has not been abated.  The Borough is required to follow this process prior to performing the work on private property.  If the Borough performs the abatement of the violation, a lien will be placed on the property.  Health, Safety, and Welfare violations may institute emergent action by the Borough”.

Per N.J.A.C. § 5:23-2.18 (c), the owner or other responsible person in charge of work shall notify the enforcing agency, in writing.

Inspection requests cannot be taken via phone and must be emailed directly or via SDL Portal. This ensures a paper record. Please do not leave a voicemail requesting an inspection, as it will not be scheduled.

The following information is required to schedule an inspection:

• Permit Number: Inspections cannot be scheduled without a permit number.  Please include a permit number with every inspection request.

• Address:  The location where the work is being completed.

• Type of Inspection: Building, Fire, Electric, Plumbing or Mechanical

• Specific Type of Work: Footing, Framing, Insulation, Final, etc.

• Name and Cell number: Person requesting inspection.

• Name and Cell number: Person on site.

• Additional Information: Please include all relevant information. For example, lock box code & location.

If any of the above requested information is missing, your inspection cannot be scheduled.

You will receive a response via email, either confirming the requested inspection or to make
additional arrangements due to schedule availability.

All inspections are on Tuesday and Thursday.
Exact times cannot be given since the order and length of inspections vary.
